Who You Are Dealing With
We're a garage door repair outfit based at 402 E Yakima Ave, working on doors, springs, openers, tracks, cables, and rollers for houses around Yakima. Most of the homes we get called to went up between 1938 and 2003, with the bulk of that stock dating from the 1960s and 70s across the older neighborhoods in and around town. That matters because a lot of those houses still carry original hardware, torsion springs, single-panel doors, openers that were never meant to run this long, and finding parts for them isn't always a same-day thing.
Yakima sits in a cold-climate band with hard winters, and that's what wears out springs and rollers faster than people expect. A door that worked fine in September can bind up or snap a cable the first real cold snap. We don't sell memberships or bundle unrelated home services. What We Do Not Take On
We don't do new home construction framing or rough-in carpentry, if your garage opening needs to be built or resized, that's a general contractor's job, not ours. We don't install or service gates, fences, or anything that isn't a garage door system. We also don't take on jobs where the door or track has been so badly bent or rusted through that a repair would just fail again in a few months; in that case we'll tell you straight that replacement is the better use of your money, even though that's a bigger ticket for us to sell than a repair call.
We don't carry parts for every opener or door brand ever sold, especially the older or discontinued lines common in houses built decades ago. If a part has to be special-ordered, we'll say so up front rather than promise a fix we can't get parts for on short notice. That's the one honest limit worth naming here: some jobs take longer than a homeowner wants, not because of us dragging our feet, but because the part isn't sitting on a shelf anywhere close.

If you're in one of those towns and unsure whether a call is worth it, just ask when you phone in, distance alone doesn't rule anything out, but it can affect how soon we can get there on a given day. Across this whole service area there are close to 19,793 households, most of them owner-occupied, and a fair share of those houses share the same aging hardware we mentioned above.
Do you work on garage doors outside Yakima itself?
Yes. We regularly go out to Union Gap, Selah, and Ahtanum, all about 4 miles from our shop, plus Summitview, Gleed, Moxee, Cowiche, Naches, Wapato, Buena, White Swan, Zillah, and Toppenish, the farthest of those around 18 miles out. Call ahead if you're near the outer edge so we can work it into the day's route.
Why did my spring snap in the cold?
Yakima's winters fall in the severe end of the cold climate band, and cold makes steel springs more brittle and less forgiving under tension. A spring that's been stretching and compressing for years finally gives out when the metal contracts in a hard freeze. It's one of the most common calls we get once temperatures drop.
My house is older, can you still get parts for my door?
Often, yes, but not always same-day. A lot of the homes we service were built between 1938 and 2003, with plenty from the 1960s and 70s carrying original hardware. Some of those parts are special-order. We'll tell you honestly if that's the case before we commit to a timeline.
Is it ever better to replace than repair?
Sometimes. If the track is badly bent or the door panel is rusted through structurally, a repair might hold for a few months and then fail again. We'll say so directly rather than sell you a patch job we don't think will last, even when replacement is the pricier recommendation for us to make.
